Excerpts from God Knows What's It's Like to be a Teenager

God Knows What It's Like to be a Teenager -- The title piece of my book. It talks about Jesus becoming one of us, so I thought it would make a good Christmas gift '99 to post this, and an even better Christmas 2000 gift to improve it.

This began as a talk I gave to my Junior High group a few years ago, then grew into this piece, then grew into the book.

Foreword -- written by none other than Leanor "Jeff the Girl" Ortega of Five Iron Frenzy. I've also put other endorsements on this page.

To get the most out of the rest of these, read the actual psalms in the Bible first. Besides, what God says is way more important than what I write.

from Psalm 22 -- This one is pretty heavy, but perhaps my most important piece. If you ever wondered what Jesus' crucifixion was all about, you want to read this.

from Psalm 42 -- It seems a lot of teens are struggling with their faith and conscience. I know a number have talked to me on the net about their struggles. So I thought I should add this piece.

from Psalm 117 -- I had some fun with this one. Check it out.

from Psalm 133 -- About brothers and best friends -- and oily hair.

from Psalm 139 -- This was my favorite psalm as a teenager. The last two verses of 139 may have been the first Bible verses I ever intentionally memorized. I prayed them a LOT. I needed to pray them a LOT. Now that I think about it, I still need to pray them a LOT.

Psalm Index -- To help you find the right psalm for whatever mood or situation you're in.
